Auckland Transport is urging people to take care on the roads today following a Met Service advisory of severe gales and heavy rain from this evening. If heavy rain does eventuate localised flooding on roads could occur and low-lying areas such as Tamaki Drive, west of the Ngapipi Road intersection could be affected by waves and surface flooding this evening. Heavy winds are also expected. Auckland Harbour master, Andrew Hayton says boaties should take the opportunity to make sure moorings are secure before the bad weather strikes. They should not go out once the sea and wind conditions deteriorate, he says. At this stage there are no disruptions to public transport services, including ferries. However, check updates at www.at.govt.nz
