Inspector Alan Wright has only recently retired…….. from Police. Waitematä District Commander Superintendent Bill Searle has paid tribute to the former staff member. Police in the District are shocked and saddened by the sudden death of former Inspector Alan Wright earlier today. He retired from his role at District Headquarters in January this year. His untimely and accidental death is tragic. Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family, friends, present and former colleagues.

Alan spent 34 years in Policing. He spent a number of years as a Traffic Officer with the Ministry of Transport and has enjoyed continuing service as a New Zealand Police Officer since 1992. Alan spent virtually his entire career in the Auckland region where he was well known and respected. He was a real character with a great sense of humour. He was passionate about road policing and also his boat, on which he lived at Bayswater Marina.  Superintendent Searle said, “The death of former Inspector Alan Wright has been referred to the coroner. His funeral arrangements are yet to be notified”.
